Momma has always been a sucker for a fluffy tail. I think that's why she loves us long-haired goils. Katie's tail is fluffier than mine, but her coat is a different texture, too. We always walk with our tails held high. Momma refers to our tails as beautiful plumes (feathers). Momma says holding our tails erect is a sign that we're confident and happy.
My predecessor, Gabrielle, a black and white tuxedo with a "tude" a mile long, got her tail caught in a closet door when Momma closed it quickly some years back. That incident injured Gabrielle's tail and it never stood erect since. Momma even had to give Gabrielle half a baby aspirin every other day. The aspirin was supposed to help the injured muscles in Gabrielle's tail.
Whenever Momma runs her hand down our backs, she gently tugs on our tails. It's just a loving gesture to which we've grown accustomed.
Momma doesn't like skinny rat tails on kitties. She also gets a kick out of when one of us tries to hide under the bed and our tail is exposed like a flag. We think, "Momma can't see us," not realizing she really can.
We also have to be careful to get our tails out of the way when Momma comes by. It's no fun having our tails stepped on. Ouch! I always get out from underfoot but Katie's tail got stepped on once. She was standing behind Momma in the kitchen one night and Momma stepped back. Lo and behold, Katie let out a loud, piercing screech. She was so surprised that Momma didn't see her. Of course, Katie quickly forgave Momma and all was well, but now Katie is somewhat better at avoiding getting underfoot.
We wish all our followers Happy Tails!

Getting Our Spring Coats
Momma loves us, because we're long-haired kitties. See, as a child, Momma was never a doll person. She had only one doll that was her favorite. The rest of her toys were teddy bears. Momma had so many teddy bears that she took to bed each night, that there was hardly any room for her in the bed!
Well, with spring here and summer on its way, us kitty goils now have our summer coats. Naturally, our coats aren't as thick and plush as our winter coats, but Momma still loves walking by us and swiping a pet. She's very tactile and we love getting pets from her. Besides, our slightly thinner summer coats are more comfortable for us. Isn't it amazing how Nature takes care of that?
A lot of people prefer short-haired kitties, thinking they shed less. Surprisingly, we don't shed excessively. And, there's nothing that brings Momma more joy than finding a tuft of our fur on the carpet from Katie and me rough housing.
I have to say that Katie looks like an adorable butterball. She's so fluffy, both in winter and summer. From the ruff around her neck to the tip of her tail, she's a little fluff ball. Momma calls Katie her Cuddly, Fluffy Cutie Petutie. Katie has the cutest pantaloons on her hind quarters and gray velvety paws. My coat is sleeker, but I also have cute pantaloons. There's not a speck of white on me, right down to my black satin nose. In the dark, all you see are my eyes. The rest of my face disappears.

Changing to Spring Linens
Every spring and fall, Momma changes the “shits” from flannel to cotton and vice versa. That’s how GrandMomma pronounced the bed linens. See, she was from Finland, and English was her second language. She also referred to luggage as a “sut” case.
Well, while Katie owns the bed at night, because she sleeps with Momma, I claim it whenever Momma takes off the bed linens to launder them. Occasionally, Momma would walk into the bedroom and see my lovely black, long-haired, sweet-natured self sprawled on the white mattress cover playing with my imaginary friends, and she chuckles. If I could speak, I would say with a wild-eyed look on my face, “It’s mine. All mine!!”
Perhaps you can tell, it doesn’t take much for us goils to entertain our Momma.
