Changing to Spring Linens

Every spring and fall, Momma changes the “shits” from flannel to cotton and vice versa. That’s how GrandMomma pronounced the bed linens. See, she was from Finland, and English was her second language. She also referred to luggage as a “sut” case.

Well, while Katie owns the bed at night, because she sleeps with Momma, I claim it whenever Momma takes off the bed linens to launder them. Occasionally, Momma would walk into the bedroom and see my lovely black, long-haired, sweet-natured self sprawled on the white mattress cover playing with my imaginary friends, and she chuckles. If I could speak, I would say with a wild-eyed look on my face, “It’s mine. All mine!!”

Perhaps you can tell, it doesn’t take much for us goils to entertain our Momma.
